Christmas is a month away and in Manchester, the festivities have already begun. Christmas is a time to get cosy and explore what is around you. If you are visiting Manchester over the festive season, there are tons of activities that are happening. Below we have listed some of our favourite things to do in Manchester this Christmas. 

Winter Island At Escape to Freight Island

This event takes place at Escape To Freight Island. There will be a massive food hall and festival-inspired outdoor space that will transform into a “magical winter wonderland”. This event will feature a Christmas tree forest, festive traders, and a pop-up market. There will also be Christmas workshops, and seasonal food and drink from Escape To Freight Island’s regular traders. There will also be live performances throughout winter island, perfect if like us, you like to listen to live music. It is recommended to book in advance to secure a table and the date that you want. 

Manchester Christmas Market

We could not miss out on the Manchester Christmas Market! This year, once again the Christmas markets are taking place along Piccadilly gardens. There are hundreds of food and drink vendors with food from all over the world and of course there are plenty of small businesses that you can shop from and support along the way. 

Skate Manchester

Skate Manchester will once again take place in Cathedral Gardens. This is the largest ice rink in the city. Cathedral Gardens has transformed into a winter wonderland. Tickets for the skate start at £14.50 for adults and £12.50 for children. Ice skating is the perfect festive activity to get you in the mood for Christmas. 

Bar Hütte 

This is a cosy wooden karaoke hut that pops up in the lead-up to Christmas. This takes place at Great Northern Square just beside Deansgate. This activity will cost £50 on Mondays and Tuesdays and will jump to £60 for the rest of the week, this includes the hire of the karaoke machines. This is an activity that is fun and different on the lead-up to Christmas. 

Backyard Cinema At Mayfield Depot

This is Manchester’s brand new immersive cinema experience. They will be showing a range of Christmas classics. If you love films and you love Christmas, this is the perfect Christmas activity for you and your friends or you and your partner. It also makes for a great family activity as it is a change from the standard cinema trip.
